troubling

a few nights ago I watched American Experience on PBS, and the episode was about the lobotomy. Ummm, well, it was terrible. (I keep typing things and then deleting them, because, well, what do I say?) First, it was very interesting. Second, it seems that it was done in part out of compassion. Third, it's super gross and terrible. It was fascinating to learn how this procedure came about, what it was trying to accomplish, and what really happened to the people who went through the procedure. I would never wish it on anyone.
