Ballard

This morning I buzzed across the Olympic Peninsula and caught the ferry to Seattle to visit a dear friend. We went to breakfast and then hung out in her neighborhood and finally we made dinner and sat on her new front porch. It was a lovely day spent with a lovely friend. We made a bread salad. So good:

1 stale baguette
a cucumber
some chopped tomatoes or cherry ones, or any tomatoes, about a cup or a little more
some onion
crushed garlic
basil ribbons and thyme
1/4 cup olive oil
2T balsamic vinegar

cut up bread into cubes and put in a bowl with everything else, pouring liquids on last. Stir together. Have a drink on the porch, and then eat up.
