scouring
I bought a pound of grease fleece from the Peace Fleece mill. It took a long time to arrive, and I was actually at the beach when it got to Idaho. The idea is that you get this pound of wool and then spin it or felt it or just prep it how you do and send the mill photographs and info about all you could make with a pound. I should be in the studio, but I'm scouring the fleece instead. I don't have a bath tub so I'm doing it in the sink, and I will have to do 2 or 3 cycles to get it all done, but the wool is finer than I expected, which makes me really excited. I want to work on my hand carding skills with this pound of wool. I have already hand carded about 6 ounces of washed wool from OFFF and I am excited about the results and the possibilities. I bypassed hand carding in favor of drum carding, because it was easier to learn in the environment I was in at the time, but I'm into the compactness of hand cards and it's something that I could definitely bring to really any space I live in. And there is going to be a crading and blending class at Puffy Mondaes, which I am looking forward to.
